Introduction

Mental health education for family members aims to facilitate service users’ and family members’ understanding of mental disorders, improve their ability to overcome crisis situations, and raise awareness and resolve stigma regarding mental disorders.

Current status

Based on Article 38 of the Mental Health Promotion and Support Services for Patients with Mental Disorders, and Article 30 of the Enforcement Rule of the same Act, nationwide on- and off-line trainings on ‘information provision for family members’ have been made available since 2020.

Future directions

To improve access to user-friendly services for anyone interested in mental health in Korea, regular regional on- and off-line trainings are offered.
